American Idiot

Winner of two Tony Awards, American Idiot brings to life the music of lionized Punk Rock band Green Day, in a high-octane, modern musical. Following the lives of three boyhood friends in a post-9/11 world, American Idiot, gives a voice to modern day’s “lost generation.” The musical features hits including “Wake me up When September Ends,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and the album’s title track, “American Idiot,” all backed by award-winning choreography and incredible spectacle.  Tuesday, Feb. 21 – Sunday, Feb. 26; Orpheum Theater, 910 Hennepin Ave., Mpls; Tickets: $35-$90, hennepintheatertrust.org

JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes

Be a part of something great this weekend by attending Mall of America’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes.  Organizers hope to raise $2 million this year, and need plenty of walkers for support. Participants will not only get a great workout while walking the many miles of MOA, but also raise money and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. The Birds

Based on the chilling short story by Daphne du Maurier, The Birds takes the audience on an eerie, suspenseful thrill ride.  This version, written by esteemed playwright Conor McPherson and based loosely on Alfred Hitchcock’s infamous film, follows the lives of two individuals, trapped in a house by the sea as masses of violent birds attack outside. The Irish Independent called McPherson’s play “deliciously chilling.” It’s a Guthrie treat not to be missed. Brit’s Pub Unofficial Oscar Party

For many, the Academy Awards is just another wonderful reason to eat, drink and be merry. Brit’s understands this mentality, which is why they offer their always-amusing Oscar party.  This year they’ll offer 2 Gingers Drink Specials, food deals, movie trivia and of course, a big screen showing of Hollywood’s most glamorous night.  But in the end, who cares who wins, as long as we all have a drink in hand.
